Feral Cat Resources

A feral cat is an unsocialized outdoor cat who has either never had any physical contact with humans or human contact has diminished over enough time that she is no longer acclimated to it. Most feral cats are fearful of people. They are happiest outdoors and belong in that environment. The best thing to do for feral cats is to trap them, spay or neuter them and then return them back to where you trapped them

Trap Neuter Return (TNR) is the most humane way to handle a feral cat problem as it prevents them from reproducing. If the cat has a tipped ear, it means thatit has already been spayed or neutered.

Trap Neuter Return (TNR) Programs
TNR is successfully practiced in humdreds of communities. Cats are humanely trapped and taken to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, ear tipped and vaccinated. The ear tip indicates to others that the cat has already been fixed. After recovery, the cats are returned to their colony outdoors. TNR stops the breeding cycle of cats and therefore improves their lives while preventing reproduction. TNR provides a life saving, effective solution for community cats.

Community Cats
Community cat programs are dedicated to helping with the cat overpopulation issue. They can be contacted for help in dealing with feral cat colonies.
