Become a Foster
Our busiest season is spring through late summer, so foster cats and kittens may not be available immediately. You’re welcome to apply and start the onboarding process now if you’re able to foster during our peak season. If you’re unsure about your availability, you may choose to wait until spring to apply, to help us have an accurate count of available foster homes and ensure kittens get matched quickly.
Our foster families are the lifeline of Simply Cats. Their dedication gives vulnerable cats and kittens the best chance to grow, heal, and thrive. From orphaned bottle-fed kittens to shy, sick, or cats needing extra health or behavioral support, fosters provide the care, love, and attention that can’t be replicated in a shelter. They make it possible for hundreds of cats each year to survive, recover, and find their forever homes. Simply Cats provides all food, supplies, medical care, training, and guidance, but it’s the fosters’ time, patience, and heart that transform lives.

Foster homes must be free of strong scents, cigarette smoke, and vape smoke. All household members should agree to fostering. Household pets must be spayed/neutered and current on vaccinations. Fosters should have a safe, enclosed area to house cats/kittens separately from other pets. Renters must ensure their lease allows pets.Time Committment

Fosters must have reliable transportation to bring cats/kittens to Simply Cats for vaccinations, wellness exams, or emergencies. They should stay in regular contact with the Foster Coordinator and respond promptly to communications.Health & Safety
Fosters must monitor cats/kittens for signs of illness and report concerns promptly. They should also practice handwashing, routine cleaning, and proper disinfection to protect foster cats, household pets, and family members.Isolation
Foster cats/kittens must be kept separate from household pets for at least one week. Kittens should be supervised when outside their designated space to prevent accidents or exposure to hazards.Supplies & Support

Fosters should be ready for the possibility of illness or loss, especially with very young kittens. It can also be difficult to say goodbye when the foster period ends. The Simply Cats team will support you through challenges and share adoption updates so you can celebrate your foster’s success.Ownership & Decisions
All foster cats/kittens remain the property of Simply Cats. Decisions about medical care, adoption, etc. are made by the shelter.
