About Me

Winnie is a very affectionate, petite cat. She can cuddle all day and all night, with no shortage of purring and kneading. She can be vocal but isn’t overly noisy. She’s always been a great eater with no known allergies. Winnie grooms herself well and is very soft—has a great coat. In 2021 she had a dental exam and her teeth were in excellent shape! She got a checkup and vaccines in September 2025 and was in great health.

HISTORY: We have had her since 2012 when she was a 3 month old kitten. At the time we had a dog (lab) and another young cat—they all got along perfectly well. When our first child arrived, she became a bit reclusive/anxious, but we carried on. In 2019, we moved to a new home and 2 weeks later our second child arrived. She never fully settled into the changes. As our toddler became faster and our baby began to crawl we noticed she was becoming more anxious and distressed—which also led to her not using a litterbox consistently and to being defensive around our kids. We made the difficult decision to move her (as well a our other cat) outside. They happily lived both inside and outside for about a year, then fully outside for about 4 years.

Fast forward to August of 2025 when we adopted a puppy and hoped that she & our other cat would continue their charmed garage/outside lives. Our other cat, however chose to accept the puppy and move back inside our home (with a dog door opened, they both had access). Winnie, on the other hand, became more anxious and wary than ever and began living essentially on our front stoop—the only place she felt safe from the (friendly) puppy. A couple weeks ago we had to put our other cat down (old age) and its made us realize that she has no companions and a poor quality of life as she is often stressed and lonely. We believe she would be much happier and thrive again if given a second chance in a calm home with no pets or children, and someone who needs a companion She really is a sweet cat who loves pets, snuggling, even spooning!

Special Needs / Preferences

Around 2015 she did have quite the health scare. I can’t find any paperwork on it but we think it was hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Winnie ended up at West Vet for a heart issue and was prescribed a couple of daily meds. We did our best to give her the daily doses but she was difficult to feed them to. Over the next few months we slowly reduced the dose until she was no longer taking them. She made a full recovery and has had many anxiety inducing experiences but has never experienced an episode!
