Boise’s Cageless, No-Kill, Feline Adoption Center
Simply Cats Adoption Center is a cat-only, cageless, no-kill nonprofit dedicated to giving every cat the time, care, and support they need to find the right home. We receive no governmentfunding and rely entirely on donations, grants, and community support to carry out our mission.
Our facility houses more than 100 cats and kittens at a time in 13 cageless adoption rooms with indoor–outdoor catio (contained) access, with hundreds more in foster care. Behind the scenes, our quarantine, isolation, holding, and exam areas allow us to provide focused medical care for sick, vulnerable, or newly arrived cats before they are ready for adoption.
Simply Cats operates 365 days a year through the work of a small, committed staff and more than 200 active in-shelter volunteers and 150 foster families. Together, with dedicated medical, enrichment, and behavior teams, we help more than 1,000 cats each year move from uncertainty to safety and into loving homes.
Our Mission
We save cats from suffering or euthanasia by practicing and promoting high standards of care and creating successful adoptions.
Our Vision
We strive to continue our commitment as a recognized and respected leader of no-kill cat rescue and adoption.
Our Values
- High-Quality Care: We treat every cat entrusted to us with respect, compassion, and ensure the highest level of veterinary and behavioral care.
- Innovation: We continually refine our programs and practices to keep us on the cutting edge of the animal welfare industry, to better support cats, adopters, and our team.
- Human–Animal Bond: We believe cats change lives. We educate and support our community to emphasize the importance of the human-animal bond.
- People: We value all individuals and treat them with the highest level of respect and compassion.
- Service: We offer thoughtful, cat-focused services to our community, from adoption and foster care to education and support.
- Financial Integrity: We are careful stewards of the resources entrusted to us and commit to transparency and accountability in how donor funds are used.

- History
Simply Cats began in the late 1980s as Just Strays Animal Foundation, Inc., with just six cats and a simple goal: help cats who had nowhere else to go. As our work grew and our focus became exclusively feline, the shelter’s name was changed to Simply Cats Adoption Center in 2005 to reflect our cat-only mission.
Thanks to the generosity of donors Maureen Howe and Dick & Yvonne Lierz, a new state-of-the-art facility was constructed and donated in 2007. That building has been our home ever since and has allowed us to expand our capacity and deepen our commitment to no-kill, cageless cat care in the Treasure Valley.
