Volunteer Application Process
- Be of age
Volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Volunteers between 12-15 years old must volunteer with a parent during every shift.
- Choose a position
Review the job descriptions to see which would fit your interests and schedule best.
- Make a commitment
A minimum commitment of 3 months of service is required to volunteer with Simply Cats.
- Submit your application
Online or in person at our adoption center.
- Receive approval from the Volunteer Coordinator
Applicants whose interests and schedule match current openings and current shelter needs will be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator. If your interests & schedule do not meet current shelter needs, your application will be held until an opening is available.
- Attend orientation
Volunteer Orientation must be scheduled by the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteer Orientation lasts about an hour and scheduling is flexible. Keep in mind that you will be unable to begin volunteering until orientation is completed.

Volunteer with Simply Cats and Make an Impact!
The Simply Cats Mission: We save cats from suffering or euthanasia by practicing and promoting high standards of care and creating successful adoptions.
Volunteers play a critical role in carrying out our mission and it’s a great way to give back to your community! They fill a critical need that allows the organization to save hundreds of cats & kittens each year. Volunteers work 365 days a year and are extremely dedicated. Volunteers must have customer service skills and be able to professionally represent Simply Cats Adoption Center and our policies when interacting with the public. Volunteers should be outgoing, personable, knowledgeable, easily trained, self-directed, committed to safety and willing to follow instruction and standard procedures. Please read the information below to learn more about the process of becoming a Simply Cats volunteer.
- Must be able to keep to a regular, consistent schedule and must be able to commit to scheduled volunteer times. Please consider whether or not you are able to honor this commitment before completing the application. If you are not able to commit to a set time and day, please select the “On-Call” option on the application.
- Must be able to squat, bend, twist, lift and stand for long periods of time when working directly with the cats in our care.
- Must be able to work well with people – volunteer positions have exposure to staff, other volunteers and/or the public.
- Must be able to take and seek direction and have a self-motivated work ethic.
- Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
