Southern Idaho Feline Coalition
Relocation programs can be the key to ending the needless euthanasia of adoptable animals because of shelter overcrowding. It provides a safety net for animals in our community and beyond.
Simply Cats saves hundreds of cats and kittens annually.
Our mission is to save cats from suffering or euthanasia by practicing and promoting high standards of care and creating successful adoptions.
Being consistent with our mission, forming a transfer coalition allows us to provide an opportunity for open-admission shelters to save more animals by transferring a portion of those to Simply Cats, as space allows.
Because adoption numbers and length of stay at our facility have improved significantly for Simply Cats over the last few years, our organization wants to expand our reach and assist open-admission shelters increase their live-release rates (thus reducing their euthanasia rates). Accepting transfers from them does this. Our coalition partners participate in these efforts on a regular basis.
Since January this year, over 200 felines have been transferred to us from open-admission shelters. As of July 31, 85% of these have been adopted from Simply Cats into loving homes, with an average length of stay at our facility of only 31 days.
