The Scratching Post - Fall/Winter 2011 Edition

Featured CatDr. Applesauce
Dr. Applesauce

My story: They call me Dr. Applesauce. As my name suggests, I am quite the unique boy. I used to be a stray and spent my days wandering in search of food, shelter, and human companionship. One day, I got myself into a big pickle. Oh boy, did I ever.  In trying to leap a fence, my left rear leg caught on the wires. I twisted and turned my leg, but try as I may, I just could not free myself! Eventually, some people found me struggling and were able to untangle my leg from the fence. They then rushed me in to the Humane Society so I could receive medical care. My leg bone was severely fractured; four inches of bone was exposed! I began to feel very woozy, lightheaded and tired. All I really remember now is that I went to sleep and when I awoke, my left rear leg was gone! I made a swift recovery and was moving around again within just days of the surgery. It took me a week or so to get used to not having my leg, but now I get around just great as a tripod! And, even though I’m   missing one body part, I make up for it with another: the love in my heart. I’m now waiting at Simply Cats for my forever home. Could it be yours? Please adopt me today.  How about it?

Success StoryBruce
Bruce

I adopted Bruce and just want you to know he’s doing great! He is such a joy and loves to snuggle and always puts a smile on my face. He has taken ownership of the house (lol) and loves being on the 2nd floor where he can look over everything and watch the squirrels and birds. He loves to play and everyday we run through the house with the laser light, that’s his favorite. He loves to plop down and sleep in my armpit (I keep up on deodorant just for him), I guess its his favorite spot! I read every night and that’s right where he goes, with his chin   resting on my chest. He is such a lover, a gentle giant. It took him a little while to get close to me but now it feels like we’ve been together forever. Thank you for all that you do and for introducing me to my best friend!          Lani

URGENT: Foster Homes Needed!

Simply Cats has been given custody of 17 cats that were seized from the Meridian Hoarding situation on November 11th.  Many of these animals are being treated for upper respiratory infections, need dental attention, weight gain, love and socialization to get over the trauma they have experienced .  We are looking for individuals who would be willing to give these animals a temporary foster home (approximately 60 days), until they can be re-examined and deemed healthy enough to adopt out.  Simply Cats will provide all supplies and veterinary care needed for these animals during their foster period.  If you can help, please contact Simply Cats at (208) 343-7177 or complete the online foster application.
