Volunteer Spotlight

November Volunteers of the Month - Carol Ross and Gina Koebli
Thursday is a great day of the week at Simply Cats, why? Because we have a dynamic duo on Thursdays! Two women go well above & beyond to help us in our mission to care for, protect and find quality home for our cats.
Carol Ross has been a volunteer since June of this year. We cannot thank her enough for all of the hard work she puts in. Carol is willing to do anything- and I mean anything- to help us keep the adoption center sparkling clean. Our beautiful atrium is quite large and needs to be cleaned regularly. Carol will vacuum, sweep, mop and dust the entire area by herself! She also cleans the bathrooms, washes cat carriers and takes out the trash.  It is selfless work such as this that helps us get our cats adopted- everyone who visits is impressed with our facility and that is due in large part to Carol.  We really appreciate you!
We couldn’t ask for a better advocate for our cats than Gina Koebli. Gina’s shift is from 1-3 p.m. but she often stays much later- scooping litter, doing laundry, cleaning heaps of dirty litter boxes and so much more. In addition, she cares deeply for each cat and dotes on all of them. Her weekly “rounds” of the adoption rooms means each cat gets attention and love from her- and that helps the kitties get adopted. Her bright smile and bold laughter is infectious and we all feel happier when she is in the building. She is also a jewelry maker and has created beautiful earrings for us to sell- with 100% of the profits coming directly to us. How generous! Stop by our retail case and have a look- the holidays are coming!    Thanks, Gina. We cannot do it without you!

The Vanny Voice - Fall 2010 Edition

Featured Cat: BRUCEBruce
Meet Bruce!

Hi, my name is Bruce.  I came to Simply Cats from a shelter in Wyoming.  Our facility had to shut down due to lack of funds.  Lucky me, they had room at Simply Cats!  I’m not quite sure how I feel about shelter life.  You see, I don’t really like other kitties.  Being transferred here has shaken me up a bit, so I need help regaining my courage.  Once I trust you, I might ask you for a nice tummy rub!  My former caretaker has generously donated my adoption fee, for anyone who will give me a furever home with no other kitties ~ so, won’t you come take me home?

Our Sponsorship Program

Our sponsorship program provides a means by which you, as a donor, can support the cats at Simply Cats Adoption Center. We have provided a number of options from which to choose for those who have a specific area of interest or a particular donation amount in mind. You might even consider a gift of sponsorship.

At our facility, we care for an average of 110 cats each month. By participating in our sponsorship program, you can help with the direct costs of this care.

In 2009, our organization took in 203 cats and adopted out 211 to new homes. All cats adopted out from our facility are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Veterinary costs per cat average approximately $70.00 per month. General cat care costs per cat (which include food and litter), average approximately $10.00 each month.

Success Stories!Daphne

When I first saw Zara, formerly known as Daphne, she came running up to me at Simply Cats and my first thought was “with that haircut you look so funny that you’re actually cute!” She proceeded to jump up into my lap and purr for as long as I would sit there. I knew I had to take her home! Ironically, her name was inspired by our adoption conversation when it was joked that as a Persian Kitty she needed a Farsi name. The moment we got home I expected her to hide and come out slowly. Much to my surprise she almost demanded to explore everything in the house! At that point I went and looked up “bold” in Farsi and found the name Zara. That was six weeks ago and she has been my favorite little shadow, following me wherever I go, ever since. When I come home she always runs to greet me and subsequently nose dives and rolls over for a belly rub! Being a Master’s student and having Zara who keeps late and strange hours with me has been incredible and I couldn’t ask for a better study buddy.  Thank you so much for my wonderful little ball of fur!            Serina
